What is Hyperliquid?
Hyperliquid set out to answer a simple question: can a decentralized exchange feel exactly like Binance without taking custody of your money? Its answer was to build its own Layer-1 blockchain optimized for trading, where the entire central limit order book — orders, matching, liquidations — lives on-chain. The result is sub-second finality, zero gas per trade and throughput that rivals centralized venues.
The exchange offers perpetual futures on a wide range of assets with up to 40x leverage, plus a growing spot market. Market making is democratized through HLP, a vault that lets users own a share of the protocol's market-making and liquidation flows. The HYPE token, distributed via a landmark community airdrop with no VC allocation, secures the network and captures staking utility.
With the HyperEVM bringing general-purpose smart contracts to the same state as the order book, Hyperliquid is evolving from an exchange into a full financial chain. It has become the venue of choice for serious perp traders who want CEX performance with on-chain verifiability — though skeptics watch its relatively small validator set and the concentration risks of HLP.
