What is Raydium?

Raydium is one of Solana's foundational DeFi protocols, launched in early 2021. It made history as the first AMM to share liquidity with a central limit order book (OpenBook, formerly Serum), giving LPs the yield of an AMM with the depth of an order book. That hybrid design made Raydium the backbone of Solana liquidity through multiple market cycles.

Today Raydium offers constant-product pools, concentrated liquidity market maker (CLMM) pools and farms. Its biggest modern role is as the liquidity engine of Solana's memecoin economy: when tokens graduate from launchpads like pump.fun, their liquidity historically migrates to Raydium pools, and its own LaunchLab lets teams bootstrap tokens directly with bonding curves.

The RAY token captures value through buybacks funded by protocol fees and grants governance rights. Raydium is the power user's Solana AMM — deeper on long-tail pairs than rivals, with serious volume — though its utilitarian interface and exposure to the boom-bust memecoin cycle are worth keeping in mind.
