What is Trader Joe?
Trader Joe is Avalanche's home-town exchange, launched in June 2021 and woven into the identity of the chain's community. While it began as a friendly fork of the Uniswap model, its defining contribution is the Liquidity Book — an original AMM design that organizes liquidity into discrete price 'bins', letting providers deploy capital with surgical precision and enabling zero-slippage swaps within a bin.
The Liquidity Book proved genuinely innovative and was later licensed and mirrored across the industry. Around it Trader Joe built a full DeFi hub: farms, staking (JOE can be staked for revenue share), a launchpad for Avalanche projects and Auto-Pools that manage concentrated positions on behalf of passive LPs.
Deployed on Avalanche, Arbitrum, BNB Chain and Ethereum, Trader Joe remains most at home on Avalanche, where JOE tokenomics channel real protocol revenue to stakers. It's a technically excellent venue for LPs who understand bin strategy — passive users should start with Auto-Pools rather than managing bins manually.
