What is Velodrome?

Velodrome launched in 2022 on Optimism as a reimagining of Andre Cronje's Solidly experiment, fixing its flaws and proving the ve(3,3) model could sustainably coordinate liquidity. Protocols deposit bribes to attract VELO emissions to their pools; veVELO voters direct those emissions and collect all fees and bribes; LPs earn emissions; traders enjoy deep, incentivized liquidity. The loop made Velodrome the liquidity hub of the Optimism ecosystem.

The exchange supports stable and volatile pools plus Slipstream concentrated liquidity, and has become the canonical liquidity venue across Optimism's expanding Superchain of OP Stack L2s. Major ecosystem protocols — from synthetics to money markets — build their liquidity strategies on top of Velodrome gauges.

VELO tokenomics follow the vote-escrow playbook: lock VELO for up to four years to receive veVELO, voting power and revenue share. Velodrome is the natural base for DeFi on Optimism; prospective users should understand that emissions-based liquidity is only as sticky as the incentives behind it, and that ve-token locks are illiquid commitments.
